Corey Taylor, the frontman of Slipknot, has expressed his opinion on Dave Grohl becoming a father to a new child outside of his marriage, calling it “irresponsible,” though he emphasizes that it doesn’t reflect Grohl’s character as a person.
Earlier this month, Grohl, the lead singer of Foo Fighters, announced the birth of his daughter, stating he is working hard to regain the trust of his wife, Jordyn Blum, and their family. The couple already has three daughters together: Violet, Harper, and Ophelia.
Following Grohl’s announcement, a viral post claimed that the newborn girl would be named Roxie Junie Grohl, describing her as “truly a Grohl through and through.” This claim was later confirmed as false by Grohl’s representatives to NME.
In light of these events, Taylor, a longtime friend of Grohl, commented on the situation, which prompted Foo Fighters to cancel their performances at the Soundside Music Festival over the weekend.
During an appearance on the podcast *Your Mom’s House*, hosted by comedians Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky, Taylor was asked for his thoughts on the “messy” situation. He suggested that Grohl may have announced the birth to preempt the baby’s mother from breaking the news.
Taylor stated, “Obviously, it’s very irresponsible. I know many fans are disappointed because of the image he’s built. But we need to remember that nobody is perfect. He was one of the last to maintain that image… This doesn’t mean he’s not a nice person; I know him personally. It shows he has issues and made mistakes. He’s not perfect, and this will be tough for his family. I won’t speculate on the reasons behind it. I’m sober, but I’ve had my own struggles.”
He concluded, “Did he do something terrible? Yes. But if that’s the only thing that defines him, then what are we really doing? It’s disappointing.”
Since Grohl’s announcement, his daughters Violet and Harper have deactivated their Instagram accounts. Violet has gained recognition for touring with Foo Fighters and is featured on the band’s 2023 song “Show Me How” from their emotional album *But Here We Are*, which reflects on the loss of Grohl’s mother, Virginia, and the late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
