Shrimpers open transfer talks with trialist midfielder

SOUTHEND United are in contract talks with midfielder Rafferty Pedder, Echosport understands.

The former Queens Park Rangers youngster has lined up against Gillingham and Ballyfermot United during pre-season.

And it is now understood the Shrimpers are keen to keep the 22-year-old at Roots Hall on a more permanent basis.
Pedder, who spent time on loan at Oxford City last season, missed Blues’ final friendly at Chelmsford City on Saturday to avoid aggravating a hamstring issue he suffered towards the end of last season.
But he could now look to kick-start his career with the Shrimpers who are currently short of midfield options with Noor Husin still working his way back to full fitness after having an operation on his shin.
