Barcelona concluded their pre-season tour of the USA last night with a penalty shootout defeat to AC Milan, following a 2-2 draw in regulation time. Robert Lewandowski scored a brace for the Blaugrana and impressed with his performance as the new season approaches.
However, his fellow striker, Vitor Roque, who has struggled to make an impact during the pre-season tour, drew attention for the wrong reasons. The 19-year-old Brazilian, who has been linked with a summer exit, replaced Lewandowski in the 78th minute but did little of note while on the field. Just before the penalty shootout began, Roque was seen in a heated argument with one of Barcelona’s coaching staff members, Thiago Alcantara.
The former La Masia midfielder, who has joined Flick’s staff on a short-term basis, has been highlighted as a positive influence on the squad thus far. However, Roque did not see eye-to-eye with Thiago on something discussed right before the penalties. Despite the disagreement, the Brazilian stepped up and scored from the spot during the shootout.
