Brisbane Roar confirm 7 player departures

Brisbane Roar have confirmed the release of five first-team players whose contracts have expired, while another two will depart the club due to mutual terminations.

Carlo Armiento, who spent two seasons in Queensland, is looking for a new club after his contract expired, while fellow forward Nikola Mileusnic also leaves after a season in which he scored five goals and assisted five times in 27 games.

Jonas Markovski, a 25-year-old forward who scored three goals in 17 games during his one season with the Roar, joins them in leaving, as do academy product James Nikolovski and 21-year-old forward Ayom Majok.

The club has also stated that 19-year-old Shae Cahill, son of Socceroos great Tim, and midfielder Tara Gomulka would not play for Ruben Zadkovich’s team during the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season after mutually terminating their contracts.

The latest batch of departures follows confirmation that club captain Tom Aldred will be departing Brisbane to pursue his football career abroad.

Aldred has left an indelible stamp on the Queensland club after leading the team for the last five seasons, but while many players are leaving, Zadkovich and his team have been gradually recruiting this offseason.

The addition of Olyroos defender Hosine Bility on a season-long loan earlier this week would greatly improve Brisbane’s defence in Aldred’s absence, and the club has also signed three more defenders.

With 23-year-old versatile defender Kai Trewin set to join Melbourne City, Brisbane acted quickly to sign defensive duo Ben Warland and Harry Van Der Saag after their release from Adelaide United, and the club has also signed LA Galaxy and United States youth international Marcus Ferkranus on a two-year deal.
