Prior to the upcoming season, Worcester City has confirmed the departure of three players.
After winning the championship and getting promoted the previous season, Jamie Insall, Kyonn Evans, and Connor Gater have all decided to give up football.
Insall’s retirement is the first one.
Having signed with City soon after the 2023–24 season began, he ends his career with his hometown team, having scored 23 goals.
Throughout his career, Insall has played for a number of clubs, including Hibernian, East Fife, Connah’s Quay, Halesowen, and Redditch. He has also participated in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League, Europa League, and UEFA Conference League.
At thirty-two, Insall is excited to have a baby with his girlfriend and will likely be seen occasionally on the sidelines supporting City.
Additionally, Evans has announced his retirement from the team after three seasons.
Evans made 28 games despite suffering an injury early in the season, and he was crucial to the team’s postseason victory.
Although the forward’s ability to score goals is his most well-known attribute, he has also made an impression on opposing centre backs with his hold up play, flick ons, and hard work throughout the front line.
Aside from football, Evans is now looking to focus on his business, Worcester Glazing.
Gater is the third and final exit from the club, as he also hangs up his boots.
Gater retires with his name in the history books, having been a part of the City side that beat Coventry City in the 2014 FA Cup.
He played in 32 games the previous season and was praised for his poise in the air and his intellect in the midfield, where he formed a smart alliance with Calvin Dinsley that helped the team win the league.
Gater is planning a wedding and a baby in the not too distant future, which are both great prospects.
